To properly heat your room and avoid soiling your Don-Bar and chimney, choose a hard and dry wood.
Favour hard woods
Hard woods produce a lot of embers and burn slowly, here are some excellent combustibles :
- Hornbeam
- Oak
- Maple
- Ash
- Beech
Soft woods are not very good for heating,here are some species who have a poor output :
- Chestnut-tree
- Poplar
- Willow
- Lime-tree
And finally, avoid resinous who will soil your pipes. Avoid these species :
Avoid damp wood
Damp wood doesn't heat as much as dry wood and it soils your appliance and chimney.
Always choose dry wood.
ideally, set your logs to dry for two years under an aerated shelter
